License Renewal
Licenses expire biennially (every 2 years) and must be renewed through the Professional Engineer Licensing System (PELS) portal. The PELS renewal portal is available between these dates:
- May 1 – December 31 SI and PS Licensee – expires June 30
- August 1 – March 31 Dual Licensee – expires Sept 30
- November 1 – June 30 COA, EI, PE Licensee – expires Dec 31
Even-numbered licenses are renewed in even-numbered years and odd-numbered licenses in odd-numbered years. DUAL LICENSEE – If you hold a PE and PS license, your PE license number determines your renewal year (even number, even year, odd number, odd year).

Renewal Requirements

- EI or SI $10.00
- PE $80.00
- PS $60.00
- Dual $140.00
- COA $100.00
Continuing Professional Competency (PDH) – For more information, including credit determination, record storage, and possible exemptions, visit the Code of Arkansas Rules, 17 CAR § 285-1001 to 285-1010.
- Every Professional Engineer or Professional Surveyor is required to report a minimum of 30 PDH units for each renewal period.
- Professional Surveyors, including a dual licensee, is required to have at least 2 PDH units of AR Standards of Practice No. 1 for Property Boundary Surveys and Plats for each renewal period.
- Dual licensees are required to report a minimum of 40 PDH units for each renewal period, with at least 10 PDH units earned in each profession. The remaining 20 PDH units may be in either profession.
Online Renewal Instructions:
- Access – PELS at https://pelslicensing.arkansas.gov/
- Login – with your Username and Password.
- Choose one of the following:
- “License & Application Information – Individual”
- “Certificate Of Authorization – Firm”
- NOTE IF YOU SEE “NO RECORD FOUND”, STOP AND CALL OUR OFFICE FOR FURTHER ASSISTANCE!!
- Click – “Renew” to the left of the license you are renewing.
- Follow the screens through to payment. The Payment options are Debit/Credit Card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover) or eCheck.
- Your Renewal is complete upon receipt of the Confirmation page, which contains your Receipt (Transaction Number) and new expiration date. Print or save for your records.
- Your Receipt is also emailed and available within PELS on the receipts screen.
A renewal form corresponding to your even or odd-numbered license may be downloaded from the Forms page of our website. Incorrect forms received by the Board’s office will result in a processing delay.
No printed renewal forms will be mailed unless we receive a written request.
