LITTLE ROCK, AR – The Arkansas Department of Labor and Licensing is proud to recognize two exceptional members of its Towing and Recovery Division, Somer Shannon and Abbie Asher, for their outstanding achievements in public service and academics.
Somer Shannon, who joined the department as a summer intern in 2023 and now serves as a valued full-time member of the Towing and Recovery team, has been selected to travel to Kosovo this summer as part of her academic and service commitments through the Clinton School of Public Service.
“Somer has been an incredible asset to our division,” said Paul Burnett, Director of the Arkansas Towing and Recovery Board. “Her work ethic, professionalism, and passion for serving others are unmatched. We’re extremely proud to see her take this next step on the global stage and continue to represent Arkansas with distinction.”
Following in Somer’s footsteps, current 2024 summer intern Abbie Asher has been accepted into the Clinton School of Public Service and will begin her studies this fall. Abbie has worked alongside Somer in the Towing Division and has quickly proven herself to be a bright and capable contributor.
“We’re equally thrilled for Abbie,” Burnett added. “She brings energy and insight to our work, and I have no doubt she’ll make a significant impact through her studies and future public service. Watching both Somer and Abbie grow has been a privilege.”
The Department congratulates both women on their remarkable accomplishments and thanks them for their commitment to public service in Arkansas and beyond.
“Investing in the next generation of public servants is part of our mission,” said Secretary Daryl Bassett. “Somer and Abbie represent the best of what Arkansas has to offer – integrity, service, and leadership. We can’t wait to see what they do next.”
